Job summary

Bondurant Animal Clinic in Bondurant, Iowa is seeking a veterinary assistant to support doctors and care for pets across cases from urgent to routine exams. You will help with triage, lab work, radiography, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication.

This role offers ongoing training and development, a supportive team, and comprehensive benefits for eligible staff; location flexibility between Bondurant and Newton as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as veterinary assistant preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals as needed and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform basic diagnostics.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging (radiographs) and anesthesia monitoring.
• Provide nursing care to medical and hospitalized cases; administer medications.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients; assist in surgical prep and anesthesia.

Bondurant Animal Clinic is a well-established, progressive, fast paced multi-doctor general small animal practices located in Bondurant, Iowa with a sister clinic in Newton, IA. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High Speed Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body and dental radiology, Endoscopy and Ultrasonography. Job Description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
