Job summary

Pooler Veterinary Hospital in Pooler, GA is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us.

We offer medical, dental, vision, retirement, employee pet discount, PTO, paid holidays, and continuing education. Salary is $16–$19/hour with a 4-day work week (7:15 am–6:00 pm) and rotating weekend on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience.
• Skilled in disinfection, administering medications, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to safely restrain and handle animals.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment.
• Perform basic laboratory tests (blood, urine, stool).
• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.
• Maintain medical records and communicate with pet owners.

Veterinary Assistant

Pooler Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Vet Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us. Salary: $16-$19/hr. based on skills and experience

Schedule: 7:15 am-6:00 pm Monday- Friday (4 day work week) and rotating on call weekends

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• Must have 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
