Shift Differential Pay: $1.50 in addition to regular hourly pay for hours between 7pm to 7am.

Responsibilities:
  1. Foster a culture based on respect, learning, doing the right thing, WOW service, and fun.
  2. Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and surgery areas between appointments.
  3. Gather initial patient info, medical histories, vaccination records, and visit reasons; document and update records.
  4. Calm and restrain pets during procedures.
  5. Record examination results and update records as directed by veterinarians.
  6. Educate pet owners on care, conditions, and post-procedure care under veterinarian guidance.
  7. Monitor pet vital signs post-surgery and during hospitalization.
  8. Clean and disinfect cages, pens, and boarding areas.
  9. Feed, water, bathe, and exercise pets during their stay.
  10. Respond to client questions.
  11. Perform procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance.
  12. Assist with basic health checks, identify signs of illness, and treat under veterinarian supervision.
  13. Administer medications, perform routine tests, and educate clients on medication use under supervision.
  14. Provide efficient, quality care and exceptional client service.
  15. Support a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  16. Adhere to practice policies and standards of care.
  17. Perform additional duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Broad animal science knowledge
  • Basic pharmacology knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry internet sites

  • Basic math for medication dosing

Education and Certification:

High School Diploma or GED required. NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant certification preferred. Medication Clerk certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years veterinary assistant experience required.
Schedule:
  • Four 10-hour weekday shifts for Surgery Assistants with alternating after-hours/weekend on-call (with compensation).
  • 12-hour shifts from 7am to 7pm in ER/ICU.
Location:
  • Bellevue, WA 98005: Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting.
