BluePearl Pet Hospital - Veterinary Assistant Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced Emergency team in Augusta, GA.

Schedule and Compensation

Schedule: Overnights 7pm-7am; flexible with weekday shifts, 2 weekend shifts required per month

Pay: $17.00 - $31.50 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band depends on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. We offer competitive shift differentials for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum. Examples include:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential

Responsibilities

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases, assist DVMs with estimates, perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work), set up patients in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

• Provide nursing care according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during rounds.
• Understand medication classification, side effects, and monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications appropriately.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Assist with anesthesia and monitoring equipment for ASA I or II classified patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency as assigned.
• Perform additional relevant duties as needed.
