Requirements include a DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited school, state licensure, DEA/BNDD eligibility, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited school.
• State licensure in good standing.
• DEA/BNDD eligibility to obtain.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat companion animals to diagnose diseases or injuries.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and interpret results.
• Advise owners on preventative care and treatment options.
• Perform surgery and prescribe medications as needed.
• Counsel around end-of-life care.
• Maintain medical records for patients.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and regulations.
