Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks a veterinary hospital veterinarian to join Vetco Total Care.

You will provide patient care, diagnostics, and surgery in a full-service hospital setting, supported by a skilled team of professionals. You will lead the delivery of high-quality medical services, perform anesthesia, dentistry, and day-hospitalization planning, while upholding Petco standards and collaborating with staff to ensure exceptional client and patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian in the state in which the hospital is located.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable.
• USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
• Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and coordinate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploration, and mass removals.
• Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examination, radiographs, and extractions.
• Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in the medical record.
• Disseminate knowledge to staff to improve care and communication.
• Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at shift start/end.
• No direct supervisory responsibilities; act as a de facto leader in the hospital.
