An established industry player in animal welfare is seeking a Consulting Veterinarian in Clinical Toxicology to join their dedicated team. This role involves managing cases of animal poison exposure, providing critical care recommendations, and supporting a wide range of stakeholders. Summary:
The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) is the leading animal poison control call center in the nation. The APCC’s professional team supports veterinarians and pet owners 24/7 using a proprietary database containing over four million cases. The APCC is committed to protecting and improving the lives of animals through the promotion of poison prevention and publication of new findings. The APCC handles over 400,000 calls annually, providing assistance to hundreds of thousands of pets each year.
The Consulting Veterinarian in Clinical Toxicology (CVCT) systematically gains toxicology knowledge through the APCC’s staged training and mentoring process. The CVCT plays a critical role at the APCC managing cases regarding animals that have been exposed to potentially dangerous substances. The environment is fast-paced, challenging, and loaded with support to help achieve success. The person in this position shares our expertise with veterinarians, animal owners, and others (e.g., law enforcement) who are involved in cases. In addition, the CVCT provides consultation for support staff, advising them in managing APCC cases. The CVCT participates in other projects and events that are established to support APCC work, further education, and enhance communication within the ASPCA.
This is a regional remote position. This position is open to all U.S. based candidates who reside in or are open to relocating within 350 miles of the ASPCA Office in Champaign, IL for the duration of employment, and be available for travel to Champaign, IL.
In addition, candidates must be available for travel to Champaign, IL for two weeks of training during the first month of employment and then for occasional additional training and events throughout the duration of employment. Relocation assistance will be offered to candidates who live outside of the 350-mile radius and are willing to relocate.

Compensation and Benefits:
The applicable target hiring range for this remote role is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee’s primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor. We have organized the U.S. varying costs of labor index into three geographic zones. As a point of reference, we’ve included our ASPCA locations by geographic zone to illustrate what the hiring range would be in each of the following areas.
Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands, or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future.
Zone 1 (For example, Champaign, IL; Union, MO): $98,500 – 105,500
Zone 2 (For example, Chicago, IL): $108,500 - $115,500
