Star Valley Veterinary Clinic in Star Valley, AZ is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian that is interested in performing surgeries and dental cleanings to join our progressive, well established small animal practice in our beautiful mountain town.

Our practice philosophy is to treat the clients and patients with respect and offer premium care by well-trained and compassionate staff. Our clientele is motivated to seek the best treatment modalities, and we often utilize veterinary specialists in the Phoenix area. We believe in providing positive work culture and work/life balance so don't work nights or weekends.

About Our Hospital

Star Valley Veterinary Clinic is fast growing practice with great staff, including several experienced CVTs. In 2010, the staff was named the top veterinary health care staff in the state, by the Health Care Team of Arizona. We have a great clientele, which affords us the opportunity to do enhanced work ups and surgeries. The practice utilizes up to date equipment and strives to meet current standards of care.

Clinic Features:

  • Established in 1985, and has been serving the mountain country of central Arizona since
  • Initially established as a mixed animal practice, the practice is now exclusively a quality small animal practice
  • Two well equipped surgery rooms, dental suite.
  • In-house Lab which includes a full array of Idexx blood and urine analyzers
  • Digital X-ray, ultrasound and lift tables in all three exam rooms and treatment area
  • Our clinic has 3 exam rooms with large lift weight scales and a separate cat and isolation room.

Payson has become a growing area for retirement and for second homes in the mountains. We are a 70-mile drive to the Phoenix metropolitan area, and all of its amenities. Our climate is beautiful, and we enjoy the four seasons that come with a 5000-foot elevation. We are near several hiking trails and lakes.

Job Summary

In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with the hospital manager and hospital team to educate clients, advocate for and provides the highest medical treatment, surgical, dental and preventative care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
  • Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort
  • Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols
  • Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine
  • Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service
  • Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public

Skills and Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a graduate from an AVMA accredited college or have successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification program
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Works collaboratively with hospital team members
  • Makes decisions confidently and effectively
  • Manages time and tasks appropriately
  • Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients
  • Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth
