A Day in the Life of the Veterinarian

As a Veterinarian, you'll provide high-quality medical care to a primarily small-animal patient base, with the occasional chicken to keep things interesting. You'll handle exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans independently while working alongside a supportive team that includes a surgical specialist. Your work directly supports the clinic's commitment to keeping local pets healthy and giving their owners trusted, compassionate care.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing wellness exams, sick visits, and preventive care for small animals
• Diagnosing and treating medical conditions and developing treatment plans
• Providing occasional care for poultry, such as chickens
• Administering vaccinations and prescribing medications
• Interpreting diagnostic results, including lab work and imaging
• Communicating clearly with pet owners about diagnoses, treatment options, and at-home care
• Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records
• Collaborating with the veterinary team, including the in-house surgical veterinarian
• Pursuing surgical training if desired (optional)

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree
• Active California veterinary license
• Ability to practice independently
• 5+ years of veterinary experience preferred
• Small animal general practice experience
• Surgical experience is not required
• Strong client communication and bedside manner
• Availability for daytime, weekday hours
