Job description

What if your next veterinary job came with the energy of Chicago, the trust of loyal pet owners, and the autonomy to practice medicine your way?

Old Town Animal Care Center is where urban lifestyle meets high‑quality medicine. One day might bring a wellness visit, a dental case, an urgent care workup, and an orthopedic consult, all inside a full‑service hospital in one of Chicago's most walkable neighborhoods. With a 6‑DVM team, advanced diagnostics, surgical capabilities, and engaged city pet owners, this is a place for an experienced doctor who wants interesting medicine without giving up the life outside of work.

The Opportunity:

  • A busy, varied caseload spanning preventive care, urgent care, dentistry, surgery, and medical workups.
  • Full medical autonomy with the support of an experienced veterinary and technical team.
  • Practice in a fast‑paced urban hospital with highly engaged, invested pet owners.
  • Regular exposure to urgent care cases and advanced procedures, including orthopedic surgery.
  • At least 3‑5+ years of experience as a DVM in a small animal GP, urgent care, or similar setting is required.

The Resources:

  • Six‑DVM team supported by lead technicians, a surgical lead, pharmacy support, CSRs, and a skilled technician/assistant team.
  • Full‑service care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets.
  • Dentistry, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and urgent care availability.
  • Diagnostics including ultrasound/echocardiogram options, EKG, radiography, and laboratory services.
  • Laser therapy to support pain management, inflammation, healing, and post‑surgical recovery.

The Lifestyle:

  • Live and work in one of Chicago's most sought‑after neighborhoods, surrounded by historic architecture, acclaimed restaurants, and vibrant city life.
  • Minutes from Lincoln Park, the Gold Coast, River North, and Lake Michigan.
  • Enjoy a truly walkable lifestyle with dining, entertainment, nightlife, and cultural attractions right outside your door.
  • Easy access to public transportation and everything downtown Chicago has to offer.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $130,000-$150,000 plus quarterly production bonuses with no negative accrual.
  • Up to $10,000 sign on bonus offered.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Access to CE courses (dentistry, ultrasound, surgery, and more) at NVA's nearby PetOne Training Center in Addison, IL.
  • Professional liability coverage, DEA and state licensing, and AVMA membership.
  • PTO, paid CE, and CE/licensing reimbursement.
  • Generous staff pet discounts.
  • Final compensation commensurate with experience, skills, schedule, and scope of services provided.

If you're ready to practice great medicine where the city is just as exciting as the caseload, this is your sign.
