Operation Kindness Humane Society is seeking aVeterinarianto join the team! We are a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and most of all, a home.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to Chief Veterinarian

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Veterinarian is responsible for delivering high-quality, high-volume veterinary care that supports both shelter operations and broader lifesaving efforts. This role provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care for shelter animals and community pets. This position is regularly scheduled to include one weekend day per week. The Veterinarian applies population medicine ("herd health") principles alongside individual patient care to maximize outcomes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diagnose and treat animals; develop treatment plans and disease control measures.

Implement vaccination, parasite control, nutrition, and infectious disease protocols.

Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries and other procedures as appropriate.

Oversee anesthesia, pain management, and perioperative care.

Provide preventive care including vaccines, testing, and client education.

Participate in wellness clinics including occasional off-site services.

Support transport programs with required health certificates.

General Responsibilities:
  • Report suspicion of animal abuse or neglect immediately.
  • Report unsafe working conditions immediately.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow SOPs and safety regulations.
  • Complete required training and attend meetings.
  • Participate in events as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
