Job summary

Snohomish County is seeking two full-time Veterans Service Officer positions in the Behavioral Health and Veterans Services Division to assist homeless or at-risk veterans and their families across Snohomish County. Duties include housing assistance, case management, landlord relations, emergency aid, and VA benefits coordination.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree plus two years of office experience serving veterans or community support services.
• Must pass job-related tests.
• Veterans preference or status not specified but special requirements indicate veteran status.

Responsibilities

• Interview veterans and families to determine eligibility for emergency vouchers and related services; assess needs and barriers and gather information on eligibility.
• Issue vouchers for emergency financial assistance and enter data into the client database.
• Assist clients in filing VA entitlements and benefits claims.
• Provide outreach to outlying areas to assist veterans unable to travel to Everett.
• Coordinate with veterans' organizations and other departments to expand available services.
