Job summary

Swords to Plowshares is seeking an Employment Specialist to recruit, enroll, and provide job placement assistance to veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role includes supportive services, outreach, and coordinating with employers for training programs, with a focus on helping veterans reintegrate and access benefits.

Responsibilities include assessing readiness, developing employment plans, maintaining caseloads, and hosting workshops.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or behavioral sciences or equivalent.
• Five (4-5) years of vocational or pre-employment counseling and case management experience.
• Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment programs is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with professional composure.

Responsibilities

• Assess and counsel veterans for job readiness.
• Develop Individual Employment Plans (IEP) with veteran clients.
• Determine client eligibility for employment programs.
• Maintain veteran caseload and provide referrals for services.
• Provide job placement assistance, resumes, and interview coaching.
• Support services and links to VA benefits and community programs.
• Maintain client files and complete required paperwork timely.
• Perform other employment-related tasks as needed by leadership.
