Job summary

Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa is recruiting for a Nursing Assistant in the Community Living Center (CLC1). The NA will provide direct patient care to veterans with diverse conditions, including end-of-life care, under supervision of licensed staff.

Qualification includes basic experience or education in nursing care, with progression through GS-3 to GS-5 based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Six months general experience demonstrating ability to perform Nursing Assistant duties.
• One year of education above high school with courses related to NA.
• Completion of an intensive, occupation-related training course of study for NA (less than one year).

Responsibilities

• Provide a range of patient/resident care and contribute to the nurse care plan.
• Observe patients/residents' physical or emotional status and report deviations to supervisor.
• Use equipment and supplies for basic diagnostic/treatment procedures and patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and health professionals.
