This position reports directly to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant, if applicable. The Veterans Service Assistant helps implement basic residential services to support safety, security, and a therapeutic community environment.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering basic services (such as shelter, food, hygiene, etc.) to veterans at the facility.
- Maintain a harmonious atmosphere by communicating with clinical staff and supporting a therapeutic community environment.
- Handle client mail and assist clients with move-in and move-out procedures.
- Prevent or de-escalate verbal and physical altercations, submitting Incident Reports as needed.
- Address client issues promptly to ensure continuous services.
- Communicate needs to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant to maintain supplies and proper storage.
- Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep to ensure readiness for inspections.
- Conduct toxicology testing of clients according to program policy.
- Implement safety and emergency procedures.
- Assist in bed checks and room inspections to ensure a safe, clean environment.
- Document bed checks, inspections, incident reports, client logs, and emergency drills.
- Facilitate daily living activities for clients.
- Follow site work order procedures.
- Provide daily shuttle transportation to community agencies such as VA, DMV, and Social Security.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience with relevant programs or populations preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.
- Promote a client-centered, sober environment.
- Energetic, dedicated, flexible.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license, meeting company insurance requirements, with completed driver training.
- Night and weekend availability.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Same experience and skill requirements as above.
