Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Columbia VA Health Care System is seeking a Social Worker to provide mental health services to Veterans enrolled in STARS. The role includes case management, clinical assessment and treatment, advocacy and coordination with VA/community providers, in collaboration with the outpatient mental health team.

Basic requirements include U.S. citizenship, English proficiency, a CSWE-accredited MSW, and licensure or certification for independent practice.

Qualifications

• Must have U.S. citizenship or meet VA policy for non-citizens.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Master's degree in social work (CSWE-accredited).
• Licensure/certification at independent practice level in a state.
• VA waiver exception available for GS-09 with later licensure; GS-11 requires licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services to Veterans in STARS program.
• Perform case management, clinical assessment, and treatment.
• Advocate for patients and coordinate referrals with VA/community providers.
