Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a social worker to assist veterans facing homelessness using a Housing First approach and to connect them with VA medical and mental health services.

You will work directly with Veterans, their families, and community partners to provide case management and support for reintegration. Applicants must have a CSWE-accredited MSW, be licensed at the independent level, and meet VA requirements for citizenship and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from CSWE-accredited program
• Licensed or certified at independent-master's level in state
• U.S. citizenship and English language proficiency required
• GS-9 requires 1 year post-MSW experience or doctoral substitution
• Ability to work with Veterans and families within psychosocial rehab framework

Responsibilities

• Provide social work services supporting Veterans facing homelessness using Housing First approach
• Coordinate with shelters, HUD-VASH, and VA contracts to assist housing
• Assess psychosocial needs and develop and implement treatment plans
• Provide case management and linkage to VA medical and mental health care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support reintegration into the community
