Job summary

Fort Washington Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Vet Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in examinations, procedures, and daily clinic operations. The role emphasizes safe animal handling, client communication, and maintaining a clean, efficient hospital environment.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, experience with animals, and knowledge of animal care. Certification is preferred, with a focus on teamwork and compassionate care for pets and owners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with animals in a veterinary or similar setting.
• Basic understanding of animal care and handling.
• Preferred: Certification as veterinary assistant or technician.
• Experience in a fast-paced veterinary clinic or animal hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and medical procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately during treatments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical and treatment areas.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinary team.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and follow-up appointments.
• Communicate effectively within a team to help facilitate a smooth workflow.
