Job summary

Holmes Family Veterinary clinic in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our AAHA-accredited, privately owned general practice. We value work/home harmony, a positive environment, and high-quality compassionate care for dogs, cats and exotics.

Qualifications

• Degree in veterinary technology or equivalent; certification preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years veterinary experience.
• Interest in exotics and ability to work in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments.
• Oversee basic preventive care appointments.
• Triage urgent care patients and assist veterinarian in sick patient workup and treatment.
• Run in-house diagnostics and prep samples for referral laboratories.
• Radiology.
• Coordinate prescription refills.
• Surgical/anesthesia monitoring.
• Client education and communication.
• Clerical/operations (general administrative duties like answering phones, receiving packages, emailing medical records and general housekeeping).

Requirements:

• Degree in veterinary technology (or equivalent) (certification preferred but not required)
• Veterinary experience (2 years minimum)
• Actively engaged in learning new skills
• Able to learn software systems (including electronic medical records systems)
• Ability to handle and work in a busy environment
• Interest in exotics is a must, experience with exotics is a plus!
