Antigua Veterinary Practice in St. Augustine, FL invites veterinary students to participate in its externship/preceptorship program.

The experience complements classroom training with hands-on patient care under supervision, including histories, exams, diagnostics, and basic surgical assistance. Externs receive a weekly stipend of $250 and are scheduled for two to eight weeks with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT coverage is recommended).

Responsabilités

• Participate in patient care under veterinary supervision.
• Take histories, perform physical examinations, and develop diagnostic/therapeutic plans.
• Assist in surgeries and in management of medical cases.
• Prepare medical records (SOAPs) within daily practice time limits.
