Job summary

United Veterinary Care offers externships for veterinary students across our network of over 100 hospital locations. This clinical experience lets you apply classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting of your choice, with supervision and hands-on participation in GP, ER and specialty cases.

Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs, and priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on externship blocks for school credit.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance; SAVMA members qualify for no cost insurance via AVMA PLIT.

Responsibilities

• Participate in case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on patient care in GP, ER and specialty settings.
• Work under supervision of an experienced veterinarian and support staff.
• Be integrated into the team and contribute to patient care and learning during externship.
