Job summary

Shinnecock Animal Hospital offers a veterinary externship designed for 3rd and 4th year students. You will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on clinical experience, from histories and exams to treatment planning and diagnostics.

Externs may observe or assist in surgeries, dentistry, and medical management while developing communication with the medical team, staff, and clients. The program ranges from two to eight weeks and includes a travel/living stipend.

Qualifications

• Externship experience in a veterinary setting or related clinical exposure.
• Eligibility for veterinary students in 3rd or 4th year.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create treatment plans and order/interpret diagnostics.
• Assist or perform dental services and surgical procedures under supervision.
• Manage medical cases and communicate with clients and staff.
