Job summary

New Richmond Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and assist with surgeries. The role includes cross-training with reception and may involve early mornings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math for calculating medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills; MS Office familiarity.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain inventory.
• Prepare prescriptions and perform in-house lab work.
• Take histories, vital signs, weights during outpatient exams.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, vaccines, anesthesia as directed.
• Keep rooms clean and restock supplies; support client education.
• Cross-train with reception to assist scheduling.
