Job description

The chief engineer is directly responsible to the master for the proper operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment on the vessel. The primary responsibility of the chief engineer is to safely operate and efficiently maintain vessel machinery. G&H Towing primarily performs ship assist work in the ports of Houston, Galveston, Texas City, Freeport, and Corpus Christi, TX.

REQUIRED LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS
  • A U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as a National Assistant Engineer Limited 6000 HP or greater or a National Designated Duty Engineer of any HP 500 GRT or greater
  • A valid medical certificate
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Card
  • Minimum endorsement as a National Chief Engineer (Limited) of motor-propelled vessels of less than 1600 GRT upon Near Coastal without a horsepower limitation
Chief Engineer (CHE)

Minimum endorsement as a national chief engineer (limited) of motor-propelled vessels of less than 1600 GRT upon near coastal without a horsepower limitation.
Pay Rate: $731.30 for a 24-hour day.

Designated Duty Engineer (DDA)

Minimum endorsement as a national designated duty engineer of motor-propelled vessels of less than 500 GRT upon near coastal without a horsepower limitation.
Pay Rate: $648.90 for a 24-hour day.

Designated Duty Engineer - Limited (DDL) / Engineer Trainee (ATE)

Minimum endorsement as a national assistant engineer 6000 HP or a national designated duty engineer of motor-propelled vessels of less than 4000 HP or less than 500 GRT, or a third assistant engineer of motor-propelled vessels.
Pay Rate: $587.10 for a 24-hour day.
