Location Los Angeles, California and Toronto, Canada

We are seeking skilled screenwriters to develop serialized vertical drama scripts designed for mobile-first audiences. These stories must feature frequent cliffhangers, emotional stakes, and tight pacing to drive continuous viewer engagement. Writers will be adapting existing IP from Chinese series into fast-moving, short-form content for Western audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write a 70–80 page script, broken into60–65 episodes(each 60–120 seconds in length)
• Build stories around strongcliffhangers, hooks, and emotional payoffsin every 1–2 episode arc
• Adapt existing IP with sensitivity to cultural tone and pacing, reworking it for a Western vertical format
• Format all scripts for mobile viewing and vertical video best practices
• Implement creative notes quickly and accurately
• Deliver work on deadline with minimal oversight

Qualifications:

• Proven experience writing for vertical video formatsis a strong asset
• Deep understanding of episodic structure and hook-based writing
• Active consumer of vertical episodics
• Ability to adapt source material while preserving its core themes and emotional arcs
• Familiarity with Chinese drama content or fluency in Chinese is a strong asset
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Comfortable working independently and responding quickly to feedback

Compensation:
Competitive, based on experience and scope. Paid per project.
