Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of South Carolina or compact state; 2 years RN experience and current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
• ACLS for work in critical care areas (has six months from date of hire to obtain); PALS for work in critical care and mother/baby areas.

Responsibilities

• Documents initial nursing histories, assesses patients conditions and develops individual care plans for patients assigned to the unit taking into consideration their physical, psycho-social, environmental and spiritual needs.
• Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care according to established policies and procedures.
• Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary to obtain optimal patient care.
• Coordinates discharge planning.
• Maintains appropriate patient documentation, records and charts to insure an accurate record of the patients' medical treatment. Maintains confidentiality.
