Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a Healthcare Benefit Verification/Billing Administrator to join our home health team. The role focuses on reviewing referrals, obtaining authorizations, and entering patient benefit data into the EMR system, ensuring accuracy in billing and reimbursement processes.

We value attention to detail, knowledge of commercial insurance guidelines, and the ability to communicate with care centers and payors.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in a medical office/home health benefit verification or billing.
• Familiar with insurance billing terminology.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance carriers' guidelines for verification, authorization and reimbursement.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Review referral information for accuracy in the EMR system provided by the care center.
• Obtain authorizations where required while maintaining confidentiality regulations.
• Obtain information from agencies to assist with authorizations and payor sources.
• Enter patient benefit and authorization information into the EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Review referral information for accuracy in the applicable EMR system supplied by the care center.
• Obtain authorizations where required while maintaining compliance with medical record confidentiality regulations.
• Obtain information from agencies when necessary to assist with receiving authorizations and re-authorizations from private insurance and all other payor sources.
• Assist other departments and care centers in the efficient collection of client and payor information to ensure accuracy.
• Enter all patient benefit and authorization information into the applicable EMR system.Respond to calls, emails, and other inquiries regarding the status of outstanding referrals and/or authorization information.
• Provide other administrative support to the department as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years' experience in a medical office/home health benefit verification or billing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance carriers' guidelines and criteria of verification, authorization, and reimbursement.
• Familiar with insurance billing and terminology.

Preferred

• Post-secondary education or training in business or medical billing/collections.
