Job summary

El Paso County in Texas seeks a Certified Court Reporter for Criminal Court at Law #2, serving under limited supervision to create verbatim transcripts of proceedings. Attendance at all sessions and accurate shorthand notes are essential, with responsibility for timely transcript delivery and maintaining equipment.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and training in shorthand/court reporting; preferred an Associate's degree in applied science for court reporting and/or

Qualifications

• Knowledge of appellate court rules, state statutes, and court procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Strong written and oral communication skills essential for accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Attend all court sessions and take full shorthand notes of proceedings.
• Read shorthand notes to resolve disputes or clarify testimony as requested by the court.
• File exhibits and preserve notes per statutory guidelines.
• Certify transcript accuracy and ensure timely delivery of verbatim transcripts.
• Maintain and update court reporting equipment and software.
