Job summary

Evonik Corporation seeks a Veramaris Process Engineer in Blair, NE to develop, analyze, and implement plant and process improvements for Veramaris technology, focusing on downstream processing, process monitoring, and root-cause analysis. You will lead small capital projects and collaborate across production and technical teams to optimize efficiency and sustainability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or related field and at least four years in industrial biotechnology,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field required.
4+ years of experience in industrial biotechnology or related field.
Experience with large-scale manufacturing of bioproducts in a biorefinery campus; raw materials handling, sterile fermentation, downstream processing, product storage/unloading, utilities, waste management.
Batch bioprocess scale-up from lab to commercial scale.
Experience introducing new product specs and managing change with cross-functional teams.
Experience introducing new raw materials/suppliers; feasibility studies and change management.
Energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction projects; familiarity with ISO 50001.
Project lead for cross-functional capital projects.
Experience using data historians and trending software.
Lean Six Sigma methodologies (RCA, OEE) applied to continuous improvement.
Compliance with ESHQ, OSHA, FAMI-QS, and ISO regulations; strong best-practices mindset.
Excellent communication across levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

Generate ideas and run small projects, transferring successful improvements to production.
Plan, implement, evaluate, and document lab, pilot, production tests.
Consider ESHQ aspects at early stages of improvements and ensure guidelines.
Identify opportunities for technical, economical, or ESHQ improvements.
Initiate studies or projects to investigate improvements or solve problems.
Collaborate with production and technical teams for troubleshooting and concept development.
Support introduction of new or improved technologies and share best practices.
