Healthcare Shares is a physician-backed venture capital firm and healthcare innovation platform focused on investing in early-stage healthcare, digital health, health services, and healthcare-enabled technology companies. Our investor base is primarily composed of physicians, healthcare executives, and operators who want exposure to healthcare innovation while leveraging their domain expertise.

We take a highly hands-on approach—supporting portfolio companies with go-to-market strategy, provider adoption, regulatory insight, and healthcare-specific growth execution—while maintaining strong, transparent relationships with our limited partners.

Location: Columbus Circle, Manhattan -> Candidate will come into the office 2-3 days per week at our Columbus Circle office in Manhattan.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Venture Capital Associate with a strong interest in fundraising and investor engagement to support capital formation, limited partner relations, deal sourcing, investment diligence, and portfolio support.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys speaking with physicians and healthcare executives, explaining investment theses, answering fund-level questions, and helping grow a healthcare-focused investor network—while also gaining direct exposure to early-stage venture investing.

You will work closely with the General Partner and investment team across the full investment and fundraising lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

Fundraising & Investor Relations (Primary Focus)

• Take introductory and follow-up calls with potential limited partners, primarily physicians and healthcare executives
• Explain Healthcare Shares’ investment strategy, portfolio construction, healthcare theses, and value proposition to investors
• Manage inbound investor interest and assist with outbound investor outreach
• Support LP onboarding, follow-ups, and ongoing communications
• Help prepare fundraising materials, investor updates, and responses to LP questions
• Maintain and update investor CRM and fundraising pipeline

Deal Sourcing & Market Research

• Source early-stage healthcare startups through founder outreach, inbound deal flow, physician networks, and accelerators
• Track healthcare trends across digital health, value-based care, provider enablement, life sciences tools, and healthcare services
• Conduct market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and reimbursement and regulatory research
• Support diligence on potential investments, including:
• Business models and unit economics
• Go-to-market strategy and customer acquisition
• Regulatory, reimbursement, and compliance considerations
• Clinical workflow and physician adoption dynamics
• Build and maintain investment memos, scorecards, and internal diligence materials
• Assist with term sheet review and investment committee preparation
• Assist portfolio companies with investor updates and KPI tracking
• Support go-to-market and growth strategy initiatives
• Help facilitate introductions to providers, payers, enterprise customers, and advisors
• Coordinate engagement with physician and operator advisory boards

Fund & Platform Operations

• Support LP reporting, fund communications, and quarterly updates
• Assist with thought leadership, content creation, and healthcare investment theses
• Help refine fundraising workflows, deal tracking systems, and CRM processes
