Job description

This is skilled work in the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicular equipment.


Jurisdiction and Yearly Salary
  1. Mobile County: $46,918 - $75,006
  2. City of Mobile: $40,528 - $64,790
  3. Mobile Area Water and Sewer System: $44,658 - $71,394

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test. Completion of an apprenticeship or trade school program in automotive or diesel repair, and a minimum of one year journeyman level experience in maintenance and repair in one of the following areas: (1) automotive/light truck/miscellaneous; (2) medium/heavy truck; or (3) construction equipment; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.


Special Requirement

Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence. May be required to work overtime. The Mobile Area Water & Sewer System requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, including air brake endorsement, to be obtained prior to completion of the six-month working test period.
