Job summary

Defender Supply a LEHR Company in Austin, Texas, seeks a Vehicle Upfit Technician to join their team. This full-time position involves completing new public safety vehicle upfits and performing service and warranty repairs on previously upfitted vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of relevant hands-on experience, strong 12V electrical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Benefits include competitive compensation, medical/dental/vision insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, fleet, or vehicle upfitting.
• Experience with new upfits for public safety or fleet vehicles is strongly preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Complete new vehicle upfits including installation of emergency lighting and related wiring.
• Perform service and warranty repairs on previously upfitted vehicles.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and installation instructions.

Skills

Strong knowledge of 12V electrical systems

Detail-oriented

Wiring, crimping, soldering skills

Ability to manage multiple work orders

Basic computer skills
