Job summary

Geauga Transit in Ohio is seeking a Service Worker to clean both transit vehicles and facilities, perform light maintenance, and help with grounds upkeep. The role involves inspecting equipment and ensuring safe operation in a dynamic environment.

This full-time, safety-sensitive position requires a high school diploma, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Starting pay is $21.63/hour with a post-probationary rate of $24.86/hour, and a 40-hour workweek with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of janitorial or custodial maintenance experience.
• Must be 21 years of age with a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Must pass DOT physical.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors; PPE use around electricity, tools, fluids and paints.

Job description

The Service Worker's primary duties include interior and exterior cleaning of transit vehicles; interior cleaning of transit facilities; light maintenance; inspecting and maintaining equipment; and exterior grounds upkeep.

Requirements

• Participation in Geauga Transit's random drug and alcohol testing is a condition of hire and a requirement of employment.


• This position is classified as safety sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the course of employment.


• High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of janitorial or custodial maintenance experience required.


• Ability to work indoors and outdoors.


• Use of PPE to work safely around electricity, power tools, machinery, cleaning fluids, and paints.


• Use of methods, materials and tools related to cleaning and maintaining vehicles and facilities.


• Procedures for safely fueling vehicles.


• Minimum 21 years of age with clear driving record; valid Ohio driver's license.


• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and able to see projects through to completion in a timely manner while working unsupervised.


• Must pass DOT physical upon hire and throughout course of employment.


• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
