Job summary

PACCAR Inc is seeking a Vehicle Performance Test Engineer to lead test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis across performance projects. You will develop test methods, collect field data, and present findings to guide product improvements.

This role requires strong data analysis, familiarity with test equipment, and travel to customer sites as needed. The position emphasizes rigorous testing, collaboration with engineering teams, and maintaining equipment while pursuing performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous testing experience or strong interest required.
  • Previous experience instrumenting and de-instrumenting test articles required.
  • Class A CDL-A or strong desire to obtain required.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate in the planning and execution of test plans.
  • Instrument and de-instrument test articles.
  • Conduct research, concept development, and evaluations for product improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to reveal root causes, generate reports, and present findings to management and others to initiate changes for improvement.
  • Advocate for product improvements utilizing various methods.
  • Develop, utilize, and maintain test methods, procedures, and equipment as necessary.
  • Support definition and establishment of performance targets.
  • Travel to customer sites to collect data and resolve performance concerns when necessary.
  • Up to 10% travel to customer sites to collect data and resolve performance concerns may be required.

Requisition Summary
Job Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Previous testing experience or strong desire as career interest required
  • Previous experience instrumenting and de-instrumenting test articles required
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) or strong desire to obtain required
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with test equipment such as DEWESoft, UniCAN, CANoe, Kvaser, SCADAS, LabView, Head Acoustics, Siemens Test Lab, and Larson Davis strongly preferred
  • Experience developing and maintaining custom test equipment and electrical harnesses preferred
  • Proficient and/or experienced in conducting data analysis and generating graphs/charts preferred
  • MatLab, Python, Visual Basic, machine learning programming experience preferred
  • Strength in handling multiple tasks and projects preferred
