Job summary

The City of Harrisonburg, Virginia, is seeking a Specialist I - Vehicle Maintenance to apply automotive repair and maintenance skills in our Central Garage. This full-time role services a variety of engines and equipment, performs preventive maintenance, and responds to service calls to keep City vehicles operational.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years in vehicle repair, with a valid driver's license and AC certification (609) within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1–3 years of vehicle repair/maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license; CDL required within six months.
• AC Certification (609) required within six months.
• Background checks and medical screenings will apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on a range of vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to minor service calls and repair vehicles in the field.
• Maintain tools and shop equipment in the Central Garage.
• Ensure City vehicles and equipment are operational for City services.
