Job description

Company: Cox Automotive. Position: Vehicle Operations Inspector I (Management Level Individual Contributor). Location: Must work at a specified Cox location (no remote option). Compensation: Hourly base pay ranges from $13.70 to $20.53 per hour, and the role may include additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs. Work shift: day; travel may be required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Set up system for day‑end; perform day‑end procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
  • Conduct OVE courtesy walk‑around inspections.
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, needed/job‑relevant software packages, and web‑based applications.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Valid driver's license and a safe driver status.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, squat, or kneel; lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level, lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong technical understanding with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
  • Advanced computer skills.
Work Environment

Exposure to outdoor weather and inclement conditions (100% outdoors). Moderate noise level. May be exposed to fumes and odors.

May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate.
