Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Cumberland, MD is seeking an entry-level mobile equipment fire suppression technician. You will install or upgrade suppression systems, test and repair them, and perform inspections to ensure proper operation on mobile equipment.

The role involves completing detailed inspection reports, maintaining trucks and tools, and responding to emergency service calls in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial fire suppression systems or a relatable mechanical trade.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Must have a year of mechanical experience and ability to work collaboratively.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible scheduling, including evenings/weekends.

Build your career with the industry-leading fire, life safety and security company.This position is responsible for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of fire suppression systems that are installed on mobile equipment. Responsibilities include installation, inspection, testing, and performing system repairs, corrections and deficiencies in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications along with accurate and timely completion of inspection reports.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Install or upgrade suppression systems on mobile equipmentTest and repair systems already in placePerform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed properlyComplete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issuesReport results of work completed in an accurate and timely mannerProtect and maintain company equipment.Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.Must currently have or be able to complete training to become an MSHA Red Hat in preparation to become a Black Hat in order to complete services in underground coal mines.Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and personal protective equipment.Respond to emergency service callsWork primarily outdoors in all types of environmental and weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, grease, and dirt as may be expected in mine sites, construction sites, railroad yards, landfills, recycling facilities, etc.Work in very tight spaces and at heights.Maintain a clean and safe workspacePerform other duties assigned by management.Education/Qualification:Experience in commercial fire suppression systems or a relatable mechanical trade.Troubleshooting skills.This is entry level role requiring at least a year experience in a mechanically inclined roleMust have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend hours. Daily work hours will vary with early morning and late evening hours that will fluctuate.
