Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Vehicle Engineer (MS/PhD) for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in Tampa, FL and Atlanta, GA. The role involves analyzing transportation and equipment accidents, evaluating design and safety, and growing your own consulting practice within Exponent.

You will lead projects, perform original research, and develop expertise in automotive technology, including design, performance, and reconstruction of transportation incidents. Travel for site inspections is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (with thesis) or Ph.D. in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering focus required.
• Hands-on field or lab measurement experience with the ability to disassemble and inspect components.
• Solid knowledge of dynamics, mechanical design, and 3D CAD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to present technical information clearly.
• P.E. license or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent leadership and verbal communication skills for technical audiences.
• Clear written communication; experience writing theses, dissertations, or papers.
• Proven dedication to quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from initiation to completion and communicate updates to team and clients.
• Identify areas for original research to advance automotive/accident reconstruction knowledge.
• Develop automotive-focused expertise in design, performance and analysis of vehicle technology.
• Travel to perform site, scene, vehicle, and equipment inspections.
• Prepare written reports and present results to diverse audiences.
• Occasionally work overtime to fulfill client needs.
