Job Title: Vehicle Controls Calibration Engineer, Drivability

Job Description

We are seeking an Engineer for drivability and powertrain calibration. This role requires a passionate engineer with expertise in subjective assessment, electric powertrains, and control theory to calibrate accelerator pedal response, hold functions, and related systems. Candidates should have a can-do attitude, approach problems with a first-principles mindset, make data-driven decisions, communicate effectively, and work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Calibrate torque control systems on high-performance vehicles to meet performance, drivability, and efficiency goals.
  • Define attribute goals for drivability and collaborate with powertrain and controls engineers to tune hardware and software.
  • Develop understanding of systems and improve algorithms to meet attribute goals.
  • Travel to test facilities worldwide to calibrate systems in various conditions.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate calibrations against subjective, objective, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, electric powertrains, and control theory; ability to understand and solve new systems from first principles.
  • Extensive experience in powertrain or drivability calibration, especially for electric or high-performance vehicles.
  • Effective team collaboration and feedback skills.
  • Ability to translate subjective feedback into calibration improvements through data analysis.
  • Excellent written communication skills for documenting progress and findings.
  • Experience with tools like Vector CANape, ECU diagnostic tools, Matlab/Simulink, Git, etc.
  • Driving experience recommended.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $145,600 - $200,200 USD annually, depending on location and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, vacation, 401k, and potential participation in equity and incentive programs.
