Qualifications

  • Vector Control Officer I requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of full-time vegetation/pest/vector control experience including safe handling of pesticides.
  • Vector Control Officer II requires, in addition to the Officer I requirements, one year of full-time vector control experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and inspect areas prone to vector infestations; collect samples and identify mosquito types; apply control measures as required.
  • Calibrate spray equipment and mix chemicals; operate spray equipment to apply pesticides on county rights-of-way.
  • Respond to public calls regarding nests and infestations; document findings and recommend treatments.
  • Participate in vector control programs for other pests as needed; perform weed control/weed abatement duties.
  • Maintain records of pesticides applied and vector infestations; prepare periodic reports.
