Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking an IT Project Manager for Mechanicsville, VA, in a hybrid role. This 12-month engagement requires PMP certification and extensive risk management experience, with track record managing large $5M+ Commonwealth or $10M+ non-COV projects as PM of record.

You will lead projects within the Project & Product Delivery portfolio, coordinating Agile, SAFe, Waterfall and Kanban methodologies, collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.

Qualifications

• PMI PMP certification is required.
• Documented risk management experience.
• Completion of a Commonwealth Category 1/2 project of $5M+ or a non-COV project $10M+ as PM of record is required.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum and Kanban; SAFe a plus.
• Onsite work up to 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Drive project delivery through the full lifecycle, including plans, release plans, resource allocation, risks, scope, schedule and value delivery.
• Coordinate Agile ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Demos, Backlog Refinement, Release Planning.
• Track and communicate project progress to team, stakeholders and management from schedule, cost and risk perspectives.
• Establish an environment where teams can be effective and remove obstacles.
• Protect the team from interruptions and maintain relationships with product owner and external parties.
• Track and report velocity and other project metrics; promote continuous improvement.
• Help Product Owner with backlog management and prioritization.
• Ensure teams follow Agile, Waterfall and defined processes.
• Adhere to project management practices; perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

• The client is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to join the Project & Product Delivery portfolio. This position is in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
• Candidate will lead and manage projects within the Project& Product Delivery team utilizing Agile, SAFe, Waterfall and Kanban methodologies.
• Ability to work closely with all stakeholders including the senior leadership, business, cross functional teams and vendors.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive consistent project delivery through the entire project lifecycle, including project plans, release plans, resource allocation, and management of project risks, scope, schedule, and delivery of value.
• Coordinates Agile Ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Sprint Demos, Story Refinement, and Release Planning.
• Tracks and communicates project progress from a schedule, cost, and risk perspective to the project team, stakeholders, and management.
• Establishes an environment where the teams can be effective and helps remove obstacles.
• Protects the team from outside interruptions and distractions.
• Ensures a good relationship between the team and product owner as well as others outside the team.
• Tracks and reports team velocity and other project metrics.
• Promotes continuous improvement and helps teams to increase productivity.
• Help Product Owner and team with Product backlog management.
• Ensures the teams are practicing core Agile, Waterfall and principles and processes.
• Adheres to project management practices as defined.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Candidate must also be able to work onsite up to 3 days/week
• Candidate MUST possess Active Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Candidate MUST have documented risk management experience
• Candidate MUST have a completion of a Category 1 or 2 Commonwealth project of $5M or more, or completion of non-COV project with a value greater than $10M as PM of record.
• Preferred Candidates: Active PMP Certification, Active Commonwealth PM Certification, Commonwealth risk management experience and has completed a Commonwealth Category 1 or 2 project of $5M or more.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle models as well as expert knowledge of Agile project management principles and practices.
• Ability to work with customers, understand their business practices and manage their expectations.
• Ability to set clear performance standards and hold team members accountable, while keeping team engaged and on track.
• Ability to help Product Owners to create and prioritize Product Backlog.
• Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
• Strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.
• Ability to analyze and document business and system processes.
• Ability to balance the competing demands for quality, scope, schedule, and cost.
• Well-versed with Scrum and Kanban Agile methodologies.
• Experience with SAFe framework is a plus.
