The VDI Infrastructure Engineer (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) architects, designs, configures, installs, and maintains the organization's Horizon VMware VDI IT infrastructure, which may include hardware, software, servers, storage solutions, networks, or physical facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Handle complex issues and problems, working with vendors on the most complex issues.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of Horizon VMware VDI.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to other Infrastructure Engineers.
- Architect and design Horizon VMware VDI infrastructure to support new initiatives.
- Configure and install Horizon VMware VDI infrastructure to support current and new projects.
- Implement application virtualization and coordinate testing with application owner teams.
- Create, manage, and implement gold images/build packages and application packages for VMware environment.
- Plan and maintain the VDI environment following industry best practices.
- Provide architectural planning and direction for VDI.
- Organize, direct, and document infrastructure of VDI.
- Ensure high availability of the VDI operational state.
- Engage in capacity planning to ensure adequate system resources.
- Maintain the organization's IT infrastructure.
- Configure, install, and support critical software and hardware components.
- Monitor system availability, troubleshoot, and resolve connectivity issues.
- Measure and improve performance and scalability.
- Assist in developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Manage storage solutions as needed.
- Produce documentation for systems and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends.
- Manage virus threats, perform critical patching, vulnerability remediation, and ensure configurations meet desired states.
- Be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned promptly.
