Market Street Talent, Inc. is seeking a skilled VDI / Windows Desktop Engineer to advance large-scale enterprise virtual desktop environments. The role focuses on engineering, supporting, and modernizing VDI platforms while driving a major desktop migration initiative.

The ideal candidate is hands-on with Windows desktops, experienced in Horizon/Citrix, and capable of collaborating across infrastructure, security, and applications teams to improve end-user experiences.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building and supporting Windows desktop environments.
  • Experience with enterprise VDI platforms and desktop delivery architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of AD DS, GPOs, and user profiles.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, deploy, and support enterprise virtual desktop environments.
  • Participate in large-scale VDI migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Windows 10 and Windows 11 VDI images.
  • Manage desktop configurations, policies, user profiles, and desktop standards.
  • Support core VDI infrastructure components, including connection services and desktop pools.
  • Toubleshoot desktop, authentication, profile, and infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and applications teams.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and other tools.
  • Monitor performance and end-user experience; implement improvements.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled VDI / Windows Desktop Engineer to join the team of our exceptional client. This role focuses on engineering, supporting, and modernizing large-scale enterprise virtual desktop environments while helping drive a major desktop infrastructure migration initiative.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on desktop and VDI engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, optimizing end‑user experiences, and working across infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a large-scale virtual desktop transformation effort within a complex enterprise environment.

What will your day look like?
  • Engineer, deploy, and support enterprise virtual desktop environments
  • Participate in large-scale VDI migration and modernization initiatives
  • Build, configure, and maintain Windows 10 and Windows 11 virtual desktop images
  • Manage desktop configurations, policies, user profiles, and desktop standards
  • Support core VDI infrastructure components, including connection services, desktop pools, and virtual desktop provisioning
  • Troubleshoot complex desktop, application, authentication, profile, and infrastructure issues
  • Support Active Directory and Group Policy management within virtual desktop environments
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, application, and support teams to resolve end-to-end technical issues
  • Support application packaging, deployment, and lifecycle management activities
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and other automation technologies
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, reliability, and end-user experience
  • Recommend and implement improvements that increase platform stability and operational efficiency
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and implementation plans
You will be a good fit for this role if you have:
  • Strong hands‑on experience supporting and engineering Windows desktop environments
  • Experience building, supporting, and administering enterprise VDI platforms
  • Experience with one or more enterprise virtual desktop technologies, including:
    • Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon)
    • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
  • Strong understanding of VDI architecture, desktop delivery, and virtualization concepts
  • Experience creating, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining Windows desktop images
  • Strong Active Directory and Group Policy administration experience
  • Experience troubleshooting desktop performance, profile, authentication, and application issues
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
  • Understanding of enterprise networking concepts including DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and remote connectivity
  • Experience documenting technical solutions and operational procedures
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced enterprise environment
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Hands‑on experience with Omnissa Horizon environments
  • Experience migrating between enterprise VDI platforms
  • Experience with Workspace ONE, Unified Endpoint Management (UEM), or Digital Employee Experience (DEX) solutions
  • Experience with profile management technologies such as:
    • Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM)
  • Experience with application packaging and deployment technologies
  • Familiarity with authentication and Single Sign‑On (SSO) solutions
  • Experience supporting enterprise remote‑access environments
  • Infrastructure automation and configuration management experience
  • Experience with load balancing and application delivery technologies
