Job description

VDC Manager I (Dallas, TX) - Austin Commercial

Job Category: Virtual Design Construction / BIM

Assist with the development and implementation of BIM/VDC services on Austin Commercial projects. Participate in marketing efforts by providing BIM/VDC deliverables. Apply knowledge of construction terminology, processes, materials, systems, drawings, specifications, and project delivery methods including CMR, DBB, and IPD. Identify policies and technical specifications impacting BIM/VDC services. Implement BIM/VDC services, define trade responsibilities, and create project-specific BIM/VDC contract language and consultant agreements.

Create models for site logistics, structures, architecture, and MEP/FP systems; verify model quality; perform revisions; manage distribution; and develop custom components and as-built models. Apply planning, scheduling, and sequencing knowledge to create and maintain 4D schedules and BIM/VDC coordination schedules. Lead coordination efforts, identify conflicts, resolve issues, and track progress. Manage BIM/VDC shop and field drawings, create dimensioned drawings, and lead layout and field validation activities. Ensure quality control, validate models for quantity takeoff, and produce accurate quantity surveys.

Maintain timely BIM/VDC content, foster positive client and team relationships, and promote a collaborative team environment.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or related field, with 2 years of experience in commercial construction as a VDC Engineer, Field Engineer, or Project Engineer. Experience must include working with BIM/VDC software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Construction Cloud, Bentley Synchro, Drone Deploy, Bluebeam, CMiC, MS Office, BIM 360 Field, Newforma Konnekt, OpenSpace, SiteAware, Assemble, Adobe Photoshop, and Navvis IVION. Familiarity with project delivery methods including CMR, DBB, and IPD is also required.

Jobsite: Dallas, TX (and various unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S.)
