We are currently looking for a VDC Field Techto join our VDCteam located at our office in Atlanta, GA. Our ideal candidate for a VDC Field Techis someone who has 0-2 years of experience in surveying or a related field.
Operate survey equipment, including Trimble RTS and Trimble scanners, to support project layout
Provide direct layout support to field staff across multiple active projects
Plan and lead 3D scanning efforts efficiently and with accuracy
Process shop-drawing-level 3D scans using Autodesk ReCap
Schedule and facilitate meetings with project teams to determine project-specific layout plans
Work closely with the VDC team to transfer designed points from the model to the field
Perform layout specific QA/QC of design content using AutoCAD, Navisworks and Revizto
Coordinate with VDC, project managers, and field crews to meet pour and installation deadlines
Identify and resolve complex issues related to layout and site conditions
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of survey and scanning equipment
Collaborate with the Field Technology team to optimize company and department layout standards
Continually develop personal layout and scanning skills as technology evolves
Proficiency with Trimble Total Stations, Trimble Scanners, and Trimble Fieldlink
Experience processing 3D scans in Autodesk ReCap
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit as they relate to field layout
Understanding of construction layout principles and tolerances
Ability to translate model geometry into accurate field points
Familiarity with equipment calibration and routine maintenance procedures
Strong attention to detail and accuracy under field conditions
Clear, professional written and verbal communication with field crews and project teams
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Strong work ethic and reliability in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Ability to identify problems and propose practical, creative solutions
Collaborative team player across VDC, field, PM, and GC groups
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
Ability to safely lift and maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move around active construction sites
Comfortable working around active construction activity while following all safety protocols
Ability to travel to project sites on an as-needed basis
