Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a VDC Engineer to perform constructability and coordination tasks on projects, with work onsite and on job sites as needed. The role sits in Upstate NY and supports VDC deliverables under supervision while growing through Gilbane University.

You will utilize BIM tools (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD) to resolve coordination challenges, support laser scanning and drone-derived data, and contribute to safe, on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, BIM or related field.

Responsibilities

• Completes the quality checks and execution of day-to-day VDC project deliverables and processes.
• Communicates with internal and external project teams; facilitates meetings to resolve project issues, review schedules, or other project documentation.
• Assigns responsible party(s) for issue resolution; verifies and documents with meeting minutes, submittals, RFIs, and updated models.
• Utilizes 3D design software to identify, communicate, and resolve project challenges.
• Utilizes Reality Capture technology, such as laser scanning and drones, to support project deliverables.
• Combines all building discipline models into coordination model.
• Reviews the coordination model for constructability issues utilizing the software’s clash detection capabilities.
• Participates in BU office and department activities including orientation program, training sessions, and peer group meetings.
• Supports 1-3 VDC deliverables under supervision.
