Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a VDC Engineer to join our Mid-Atlantic team in Falls Church, VA. This hands-on role focuses on BIM modeling, coordination, and digital workflows to support complex projects.

You will work with project teams to resolve clashes in Navisworks and Revit, develop BIM execution plans, and ensure model quality across LODs, while leveraging Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Qualifications

• Entry level position with 1+ years of experience (or internships) and a degree in Construction, Design or Engineering related fields.
• Exposure to or interest in technology, 3D modeling, process development and software.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate building systems with trade partners to resolve conflicts and support constructability reviews.
• Support multi-trade coordination and clash detection using Navisworks and Revit.
• Contribute to BIM execution planning, model logistics, and data management in alignment with company VDC standards and workflows.
• Create, update, and maintain architectural, structural, and MEP models at appropriate Levels of Development (LOD) through design and construction phases.
• Provide model-based support for documentation, coordination, and field use; assist teams with Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) workflows.
• Perform model checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with construction documents and project standards.
• Work collaboratively with project teams, designers, and subcontractors to support alignment, efficiency, and best practices in digital delivery.

Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a VDC Engineer to join our Mid-Atlantic team, based out of Falls Church, VA. This role is ideal for a technically skilled, detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in BIM modeling and coordination who is looking to grow their career within a collaborative, project-driven environment. This is a hands-on technical role, emphasizing modeling, coordination, and digital workflows. Essential Functions

• MEP & Trade Integration:Coordinate building systems with trade partners to identify and resolve conflicts and support constructability reviews.
• Model Coordination:Support and facilitate multi-trade coordination and clash detection using Navisworks and Revit; assist with coordination meetings and model issue tracking.
• VDC & BIM Support:Contribute to BIM execution planning, model logistics, and data management in alignment with company VDC standards and workflows.
• Model Development:Create, update, and maintain architectural, structural, and MEP models at appropriate Levels of Development (LOD) through design and construction phases.
• Technology & Platform Support:Provide model-based support for documentation, coordination, and field use; assist teams with Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) workflows.
• Quality & Accuracy:Perform model checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with construction documents and project standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Entry level position with 1+ years of experience (or internships) and a degree in Construction, Design or Engineering related fields.

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years of experience in VDC/BIM modeling and coordination within the construction industry.
• Exposure toRevit, Navisworks and AutoCAD.
• Exposure toProcore,Bluebeam, andBIM 360 / ACC.
• Ability to lead or independently manage multi-trade coordination efforts, including facilitating coordination or clash resolution discussions.
• Experience contributing to or helping develop BIM execution plans, VDC standards, or project-specific workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and shop drawings.

Candidates who demonstrate strong technical ownership, coordination leadership, and process improvement capabilities may be considered for a senior-level engineer opportunity.

Pay Rate: $81,000-$96,000/year
