Overview
An organization overseeing complex, large-scale construction projects is seeking a VDC Designer / BIM Coordinator to develop, maintain, and coordinate detailed 3D models on-site in Boise, Idaho. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this role partners closely with construction management, engineering, trade partners, and field teams to ensure BIM models accurately reflect project requirements and current site conditions. Experience with mechanical piping, semiconductor fabrication, data centers, advanced manufacturing, or other mission-critical environments is highly preferred.
What you'll do
- Develop, manage, and update 3D BIM models using Revit in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform clash detection, model federation, and multidisciplinary coordination using Navisworks Manage.
- Identify and resolve conflicts between MEP, structural, architectural, and other project disciplines.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, and field teams to maintain model accuracy.
- Maintain standardized file structures, naming conventions, model organization, and BIM libraries.
- Prepare construction-ready documentation, drawings, and model views for field use.
- Manage model sharing, version control, and collaboration through BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud and other Common Data Environment platforms.
- Facilitate model coordination, data exchange, issue tracking, and resolution using Navisworks, Newforma Konekt, and related platforms.
- Participate in BIM and model-based coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Conduct model quality checks and audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams, construction management, superintendents, and trade professionals to identify and resolve coordination issues.
- Participate in ad hoc meetings with subcontractors as needed.
- Attend daily and weekly field meetings to remain aligned with current site conditions, construction sequencing, and project priorities.
- Utilize project management and documentation tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office 365.
Required qualifications
- 2+ years of experience within the AEC industry.
- 2+ year of experience leading or actively performing BIM coordination.
- Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary model coordination.
- Proficiency interpreting P&IDs/Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Experience with BIM coordination and LOD 500 modeling.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of MEP systems and construction coordination processes.
- Strong problem-solving, issue-tracking, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, construction professionals, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail and quality.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Flexibility to support extended hours, overtime, or off-shift work based on project requirements.
- Comfortable working up to approximately 50 hours per week when project demands require it; overtime compensated in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Ability to perform work in both office and active construction-site environments, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, dust, uneven terrain, and active construction operations, including outdoor conditions.
- Ability to travel to project or client locations as required.
- Ability to comply with all applicable jobsite safety requirements and protocols.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, data center, or other mission-critical construction projects preferred.
- Familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam preferred.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools such as Dynamo, Python, or PowerShell is preferred.
- Experience using point-cloud tools such as Autodesk ReCap for design verification or deviation analysis is preferred.
- Previous hands-on trade or field construction experience is preferred.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
