Description
The Designer supports complex construction projects through the creation, maintenance, and coordination of detailed 3D models. This position requires proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals. Preferred experience includes mechanical piping or semiconductor fabrication. The role is responsible for ensuring model accuracy, supporting BIM processes, and aiding field operations.
Location: Boise, ID on-site at project location.
Responsibilities
Modeling & Coordination
- Develop, manage, and update 3D BIM models using Revit in alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform clash detection and model federation using Navisworks Manage to resolve conflicts across disciplines.
- Coordinate with MEP, structural, and architectural teams to ensure model integration and accuracy.
- Experienced in project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office 365 preferred. Maintain standardized file structures, naming conventions, and BIM libraries.
- Prepare documentation and construction-ready views for use in the field. Facilitate model sharing and version control using BIM 360/ACC and other CDE platforms.
- Facilitate data exchange, 3D model coordination, and issue tracking using tools like Navisworks and Newforma Konekt.
- Participate in model-based coordination meetings and communicate updates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct quality checks and audits to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
Field & QA/QC Integration
- Provide field teams with mobile model access and coordinate real-time updates.
- Capture and report field installation deviations using point cloud data and model comparisons.
- Collaborate with QA/QC, construction management, and superintendents to identify and resolve coordination issues.
- Hold and attend ad-hoc meetings with subcontractors. Hold and attend daily/weekly field meetings to remain aligned with current site conditions and project sequences.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in the AEC industry; experience with large-scale industrial or mission-critical projects (e.g., data centers, semiconductors) preferred.
- Proficient in Revit, Navisworks Manage (clash detection), AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC; familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications, with a strong understanding of MEP systems and coordination processes.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (Dynamo, Python, Powershell) preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; capable of working closely with trade professionals, engineers, and project teams.
- Skilled in problem-solving, issue tracking, and design deviation analysis using point cloud tools (e.g., ReCap).
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and quality control.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering preferred.
- Flexibility to support extended hours or off-shift work based on project needs.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit, stand, and use technology (e.g., computers, video conferencing tools) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the construction site for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing as needed for site inspections.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather.
- Ability to work outdoors in fluctuating temperatures and conditions as required by the site.
- Must be comfortable working in construction site environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and uneven terrain.
- Flexibility to work various schedules and longer hours, when necessary, with little or no notice.
- Must be able to read documents, use a computer, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Mobility required within both office and construction site environments.
- Potential travel to client sites, requiring adherence to safety protocols and exposure to various environmental conditions, including weather and uneven terrain.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
