Job summary

Interstates in Omaha seeks a VDC Planner to partner with internal teams, subcontractors and clients to plan and coordinate virtual design and construction activities that boost productivity, safety and project efficiency. You will apply electrical installation knowledge to define VDC scope, support prefabrication, and align deliverables with project schedules.

The role includes mentoring designers, resolving field coordination issues, promoting standards, and driving continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical construction management preferred; associates with substantial experience will be considered.
• Journeyman license with 3-5 years of electrical planning, design or construction coordination.
• Strong NEC knowledge and project planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with VDC coordination for subcontractors and provide basic guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with clients and project teams onsite or to review scope, schedules and prefabrication opportunities.
• Define the VDC scope of work and plan construction activities to match project timelines.
• Recommend electrical installation practices by reviewing codes and best practices.
• Promote planning standards and drive technology adoption benefiting Interstates and clients.
• Collect project information and communicate changes to impacted team members.
• Mentor designers and technicians in BIM modelling and design best practices.
• Resolve field issues with field leaders and propose solutions.
• Assess project risks and mitigation strategies from project documentation.
• Provide feedback to technicians and designers on deliverables and adjustments.
• Identify and implement VDC workflow improvements through lessons learned.
